During this time of year, maintaining your oral hygiene is important, so here are some helpful tips to clean your teeth after enjoying:

  • Brush your teeth thoroughly
    • When brushing your teeth, it is important to not brush hard – this is harmful to the gums and can cause abrasions. Gently brush your teeth in small circular strokes to ensure you clean every part of the tooth.
  • Floss your teeth, daily
    • When it comes to flossing, it is important to not press too hard into the soft tissue. Gently hold the floss and move back and forth until you reach the gums, then shimmy the floss back up the teeth to have a detailed clean.
  • Rinse your mouth
    • Whether you choose water or mouth wash, rinsing your mouth will get all of the floating particles and debris out of your mouth. This will make sure the debris does not settle back on the teeth and gums when you’re ready to start or end your day.

Of course there are more ways to ensure you clean your teeth and take cate of your oral hygiene. If you have any further questions or need more help, contacting your dental professional is the best way to get your answers.

Schedule an appointment to receive your routine cleanings. Having cleanings every six months will allow your teeth a deep cleaning, and your dentist will be able to give you any tips that will help the progress of your specific oral health. Enjoy the holiday season with those who you love.
